SOAKED COLOR

PHOTOS

These photos were taken at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.  I boiled merlot and poured it onto the tank with the exposed, unprocessed film.  I spun the film with the agitation stick for one hour and then developed the film normally.

Abstraction

The above photos are abstract images created from unexposed film souped in various substances, home developed and then scanned.

Botanical Dreamscapes

This series was shot at the Botanical Gardens in Denver.  I wanted to choose a botanical element to soak the film and match the subject matter so I used lemon juice.

These photos are actually 2 negatives, one a bnw landscape and the other a section of boiled abstract non-exposed developed film.  I sandwiched them together and scanned them to get these results.

Citrus City

This series was shot in Downtown Denver.  The film was soaked in lemon juice after exposure.  The photos with purple tones were shot on new film and the photos with more rainbow colors were shot on expired film.

Desolation Denver

These photos were taken in a downtown emptied of humanity due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  The negatives were dipped in sulphuric acid, causing cracking and destruction, much as the pandemic did to our society.
